PREV  Spring 1936 Adjudication:  NEXT

ACD233 / DC276: The Spring 1936 season has been adjudicated. After getting stopped short of the finish line last year, the French have regained momentum in 1936. Multiple supply centers from the British Isles to Asia Minor look in danger of falling into Gallic hands this fall. The American breakthrough into the vital Bay of Biscay was a setback though, and may represent the margin between the game ending or continuing.

Aside from the fight against France, the other major battlefield is in China. "Battlefield" may be a generous term, as right now it resembles one of those cartoons from 1900 with the bulldog and samurai and bear carving up the Chinese pie. Thus, France finds a rare friend in the Middle Kingdom, and China exacted some revenge by pushing west into British-owned India and Tibet with French support. With the back door broken into, the entire British Empire in Asia now looks vulnerable.

The outcome will not be known for quite a while, as our next major deadline for Fall 1936 will not be until Thu Jan 7th (in 3 weeks). Before then, we do have the Retreat season for Spring 1936, with orders due tomorrow night on Fri Jan 8th. Orders are needed from America, Britain, China, and France.

(published after the first e-mail)

ACD233 / DC276: So there are a few orders of business.

1) A solo victory for France has been proposed. Please vote on this before the Retreat deadline of tomorrow (Fri Dec 18th). This will only pass with 7 yes votes.

2) There is a question about whether the American fleet can retreat to the Azores, since the French unit from Bay of Biscay moved there and bounced before being dislodged by the fleet from Bay of Biscay. I am unsure if this qualifies as a standoff, or whether that space is available for retreat because a standoff requires 2+ units bouncing. I believe that the American fleet will end up being destroyed before having the option to retreat to the Azores, but I am conferring with some eminent Diplomaticians.

3) I forgot to publish some Japanese press, featuring some of that special lyrical Japanese poem form called the haiku.

Press:

Sunrise blinds Dragon
Lion, Eagle fight Rooster
Seas boil with their blood

The wiser man seeks
victory first, then battle
else he finds defeat

Honorable foes
demonstrate mercy with their
ruthlessly swift blades
